About Rhodesian Ridgebacks:

A large and muscular dog, the Rhodesian Ridgeback was not only developed as hunter but also as a family protector. The breed can be light wheaten to red wheaten and are sleek and glossy in appearance. Originally bred to hunt lions the breed is also known as the African Lion Hound. (source)

About Pike:

When Marsa approached me about adding a third Ridgeback puppy to our little group, I was initially a bit hesitant.  While I love our house and yard, it is a small house.  I actually declined her offer, but later mentioned it to Nathan, and Nathan said, “Hmmm …”

I knew right then we were getting another puppy.

We did do some preparation before giving Marsa a strong affirmative answer, making sure we could fit a fourth crate into the DogBus, and borrowing a dog from Amy to get a feel for what it would be like to live with four dogs in the house.  When we were confident that adding a fourth dog wouldn’t upset our balance, I got in touch with Marsa and confirmed we were up for another dog.

And that’s how we got Pike.

Pike is a dark liver-nosed boy with good substance, angulation, and a pretty head.  He finished his championship in just six months of limited showing.  Pike is expertly handled by Stacy Threlfall.
