About Rhodesian Ridgebacks:

A large and muscular dog, the Rhodesian Ridgeback was not only developed as hunter but also as a family protector. The breed can be light wheaten to red wheaten and are sleek and glossy in appearance. Originally bred to hunt lions the breed is also known as the African Lion Hound. (source)

About Loki:

When Jackson hit two years old, we knew we were ready to start looking for a second Rhodesian Ridgeback.  Since I had already been bitten by the conformation bug, I knew the next puppy would need to be a show potential, too.  I quietly (okay, not-so-quietly) circulated the word amongst several show friends that I was on the hunt for a puppy, and when Marsa emailed me to let me know about Toren’s breeding to Pecan, I jumped on the opportunity to go take a look at the litter.

Lisa’s theme for the naming of this litter was centered around Breeder’s Cup Thoroughbred horse race champions.  We really liked the name Thor’s Echo, and it seemed like “Loki” was a natural fit for a call name.  (Our other option was Mjolnir, which is the name of Thor’s hammer, but we decided that might be a little difficult for people to pronounce.)

Loki’s showing debut will be at the 2014 Hartford shows, where he will be competing in the non-competitive 4-6 Month Puppy class.  We hope for great things to come with Loki!

  1. Hi…Loki is a beautiful pup! We are considering bringing home a puppy from County Line Ridgebacks and I was hoping you might be able to offer some insight into your experience with the Kennel and Lisa.

    Thanks so much!
